Complete vehicle and parts

2025/06/14

In 2010, China's auto parts industry made significant progress thanks to the rapid development of automakers. This highlighted the importance of collaborative development between auto parts and automaker enterprises, including simultaneous development, automaker support, and increased use of domestic auto parts. If automakers focus on purchasing foreign parts, it could lead to foreign control of key components and significant losses for domestic parts companies. The key to addressing this is for parts companies to strengthen their capabilities and establish group-level organizations to compete with foreign parts companies. Domestic success stories like Fast and Wanxiang started as small companies, producing high-quality, versatile parts compatible with numerous vehicle models, outcompeting many foreign companies for a period.
First, domestic auto parts companies should seize opportunities presented by government support policies, avoiding complacency. They must persistently pursue product development, capacity building, and expanded collaboration with automakers; otherwise, they risk being overtaken by foreign companies. Second, foreign parts offer lower risk and guaranteed quality, encouraging their purchase by domestic automakers. Therefore, domestic parts companies must also focus on management and quality control to gain the trust of potential buyers.

The same conclusion applies to the expansion from traditional components to key components for new energy vehicles. Otherwise, if key components are dominated by foreign companies, imitation will hinder development. Therefore, product quality is crucial. For a period, domestic companies have shown considerable strength in the consumable parts sector, particularly filters. With China's growing vehicle ownership, the market for consumables is substantial. Manufacturing costs and R&D are not major issues; the focus should be on quality improvement, leveraging strengths and quality to build consumer confidence.

In 2011, the overall outlook for China's auto industry remained positive, with an expected growth of around 10%. However, some unfavorable factors existed, such as the expiration of 2010's incentive policies and the poor performance of the real estate and stock markets. This led to anticipatory car purchases and even stockpiling, resulting in 30%–40% growth in 2010. Objectively, the Chinese auto industry in 2011 would likely see more rational development. Annual growth of 30%–50% is unsustainable; rapid growth often leads to unforeseen problems, and companies need to move towards greater standardization and rationality.

Challenges in the Development of Auto Parts

The commercial vehicle parts industry is highly fragmented, with most companies being newly established individual enterprises. For these small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the initial capital investment is already substantial, and post-production profits are not high. Therefore, it is relatively difficult to encourage them to increase R&D investment. Moreover, the prices of auto parts raw materials have been rising steadily for a certain period, requiring enterprises to allocate a significant portion of their funds to raw materials.

There are seven factors that affect cylinder sealing, mainly cylinder wear, piston ring damage, piston wear, valve seat damage, valve guide wear, cylinder gasket damage, and valve clearance.
