JATO, a global information and consulting organization for the automotive industry, recently published its report on global automotive sales for the first half of 2018 by collecting sales data from 57 national markets. Although the global economy is being threatened by the uncertainty of trade wars between economies, favorable economic dynamics in the U.S., improving indicators in Europe, and China's expanding economy are three key factors driving the automotive market. According to the data, global auto sales reached 44.03 million units in the first half of the year, up 3.6 percent from 42.49 million units in the same period last year
From the market point of view
The top three markets for global auto sales in the first half of the year were China, the United States and Japan, in that order. India overtook Germany to take the fourth spot with 1,982,442 vehicles sold in the first half of the year. According to LMC Automotive, India is predicted to overtake Japan as the world's third-largest car seller by 2021.
